Half the battle in the Internet business is having the right mindset, your mindset dictates your future. Lets repeat that one more time “your mindset creates your future.” Lets take an example from Thomas Edison (creator of the light bulb,) how many times did he fail before he succeeded? More than 100? It doesn’t matter because he had his mind set for success, not failure, that’s the point.
Get Your Mindset Right
In the context of starting an Internet business you want to know what is realistic, then you want to focus in on a realistic goal. If your first stop is 100k a year do you know what steps are needed to get there?
Without the proper mindset, and the right motivation, your business will end as quickly as it started. Any major obstacle or series of hurdles will cause frustration, you end up quitting. Starting with the right mindset and motivation will cause you to respond in a challenging manner, not a quitting one.
When you first start your Internet business there is a period of excitement, but what happens when the excitement wears off? How do you maintain the focus and drive to keep going?
The right mindset means staying focused in times of frustration, having a plan and being confident that the plan will work. Lets look at the Ben Franklin story, what made him continue to fly that stupid kite while it was raining an lightening? He had a purpose, a dream about electricity and his mind set was to discover this power and find ways to use it, and he did.
Do you want the secret? Here it is in a nutshell – failing is not a step back, but it is one step closer to success. That’s right, as crazy as it sounds in the minds of motivated people failing is actually the process of success as long as you don’t quit. Learn from failures and make improvements going forward, this has always been the birth of innovation.
Think Of Warren Buffet
Why does Warren buffet still get up at 6 am when he has billions of dollars and could sleep in till whenever? Because he still has a purpose and obviously money isn’t the motivator as far as his personal needs.
How about Michael Jordan, he had more money than most, what kept him motivated? His mindset was about winning, a competitive spirit. So how do we apply this knowledge to starting an Internet business?
I don’t know the definitive answer, the answer is different for each of us and for some the Internet business has no appeal to them at all, this is OK. What we are after here is provoking you to think about this, if not in the Internet business some where else. The intention of this site is to give you information that in my experience reflects the real steps it takes to start an Internet business. This doesn’t mean there are not other options, but I don’t think there will be to many disagreements about what kind of mindset you need to build a successful Internet business.
