Nanosites

If you have taken any time to read through this site you know there are numerous ways to make money online. It’s not a matter of If it’s a matter of How.

Authority Sites

Some people have a passion for one thing and they want a website that will live and grow forever, this is an authority site (super site). It’s named this because you intend to make a name for yourself in one field and be an authority in it.

This doesn’t mean you can’t branch off into other areas, but your business plan is a bit different when you start a site like this.

These sites can end up being thousands of pages long and as new things evolve you will be updating a site like this well, as long as you are in business.

One good thing is if you ever decide to put up a brick business, then you have the skills, knowledge and website ready to go.

Nanosites

A nonosite (niche, mini) has a completely different concept behind it, you intend to spend small amounts of time building and launching, but you will be working in quantity not authority.

The purpose of nanosites is to provide targeted information for a specific need.

Lets say someone wants copper bathroom sinks, you may have a nonosite with just copper sinks, that’s it. You don’t need hundreds of pages to satisfy someone looking for this.

To be successful at this type of Internet business you need a system, a plan to repeat the operation over and over again. This type of Internet business is known as Passive Income.

Once you have these sites in place you don’t have to keep updating them, there are tools that do that for you.

Disadvantages

Domains – each site requires a separate domain. These run roughly $10.00 each per year. The good news is once you get 10 or so started the income generated more than pays for the future sites.

Hosting – when you have several sites going your monthly hosting expenses will run between $10.00 to $20.00, not bad considering the number of websites you will have. When you get to the point where you need more hosting space you should be starting to generate income and once you get better at this you should start making more money.

Advantages

Passive Income – once you do all the up front work you don’t have to keep a close watch on the sites. Don’t expect all of them to be profitable, the goes like this – 33% fail, 33% are so-so and 33% are winners.

Time – since these sites are passive you really don’t have to babysit customers and you can build them at your own pace. Once you learn the system this can be done in about an hour or two.

Resell – both authority and nanosites can be resold. The good thing about nanosites is you can resell them when the market is Hot and since they are quick to make sites, you can make them for the times. For example, the recent passing of Michael Jackson sets up a short term opportunity, you build a site using this subject, build it up and then sell it (flip) while the market is hot.

These small niche sites are a good place for someone to start, for both learning and building their first Internet business. The beauty of the Internet is you can build businesses in several different fields, some you will find more interesting than others, people are making money in various ways.
